County Humane Society Accepting Entries for “Howl-o-ween” Pet Costume Contest
The Montgomery County Humane Society is accept entries for the Howl-o-ween 2021 Pet Costume Contest until midnight Friday, October 22.
According to Director of Marketing and Community Outreach Lisa Carrier-Baker, pet costume contests have been a mainstay of humanitarian society for many years. The humanitarian company started accepting virtual submissions in October 2020 and plans to do the same this month.
âIt would be great if it could be in person this year, but we’re trying to be sensitive because we know everyone has different levels of comfort with the pandemic,â she said. âWe wanted to do something fun on Halloween even though we couldn’t all be together.
The reigning champions of the Howl-o-ween costume contest include Leo, a Rottweiler who donned a Batman costume last year; Jacob, a scruffy puppy in a pixie-eared hoodie; and Buddha, Simba and Caesar – who went for a sleight of hand in a trio of âDespicable Meâ minions.
Montgomery County Humane Society staff will review all entries over the weekend. On Monday, October 25, the 10 finalists will be announced on the Humane Society website social media. Subscribers will have until Friday, October 29 to vote online, when the three winners will be announced.
While the goal of the contest might not be to encourage pet adoption, “if while voters are on our page they see a dog or cat they really like, we’re always happy.” to place animals in loving families, âCarrier-Baker mentioned.
Winning pets will earn lots of treats and toys, while their owners can look forward to loot from the Montgomery County Humane Society.
